Welcome to Barcelona!

Barcelona – more than just beautiful beaches, antique Catalan districts, and scenic mountains. We are Spain’s vibrant digital technology hub! With over 1,300 startups, Barcelona has developed into Southern Europe’s startup ecosystem number one, with a large percentage of mobile and software tec hnology ventures. Of course, having the proper coding skills in this environment is of vital importance. This is where TechLabs Barcelona comes into practice: Rooted in Sant Cugat’s ESADE Business School.

How it all began…

At the beginning, there were five motivated tech enthusiasts, who believed in the concept of TechLabs and were eager to bring it to their local university. This set the cornerstone for the second TechLabs location after Muenster. After officially founding TechLabs Barcelona as an ESADE student association, the recruiting of the first batch began. We were overwhelmed with the large interest on campus and happy to welcome over 50 students to our first semester. Over the course of six months, our students kept making impressive progress in their online courses, while working on their hands-on coding projects for the Digital Shaper Program. Further, we enjoyed regular meetups where we developed our skills, exchanged views about tech topics, or just socialized over a few beers: A prototyping workshop with Le Wagon, a visit of the Super Computer Mare Nostrum, ESADE’s famous campus party… the list is long! We are very excited for our future semesters in Barcelona and cannot wait to further grow and develop our local Catalan community.
